2.2.2.1 The visual editor

In the lower area of each text box two options can be found for accessing the “Visual editor”. The visual editor will only be available for use in the Microsoft Windows environment and with the Internet Explorer 5 (or later) or Netscape Navigator 6 (or later) browsers. This tool does not work in operating systems or web browsers different to the aforementioned since it uses ActiveX technology.

The visual editor allows the editing of contents in a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) environment. The contents appear in the editor formatted just as they appear to the website visitor. The visual editor allows text, hyperlinks and image formatting without any great HTML knowledge. It does not, however, allow the pre-viewing of the already formatted contents based on a layout model. In order to preview an article complete with the intended layout model, it is necessary to use the “View” option of the article editor.

The visual editor may be used with two different screen sizes: 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768. If the computer is configured for a 1024 x 768 or larger screen size, then the latter option may be used, thereby providing a useful editing area larger than that available within the boundaries of a 800 x 600. The use of one or the other resolution in no way affects the formatting of content.

By clicking on the 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 screen size we can enter the content editor.

On top of the visual editor is the tool bar containing different tools
