What is Siteseed?

Siteseed is a software platform for web development and content management, for both Internet and Intranet environments.

With Siteseed you are able to develop all the components of a website using a web browser. The need for programming skills is minimal. The entire visual aspect of the website, as well as its functions and contents, are updated and managed using a web browser, from any computer in the network. Furthermore, there are differentiated access levels according to the role ascribed to each and every member of the project management team. Hence, Siteseed is an easy to use group work tool enabling the smooth handling of complex websites and fully ensuring content development, maintenance and management.

SourceForge.net Logo Siteseed is an open source project with CVS and development based on Sourceforge.

You can get the latest development (may be an unstable version!!!) snapshot via CVS using:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sf.net:/cvsroot/siteseed checkout siteseed

Or download the latest (stable) release from:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/siteseed/

There is now an "official" additional site for Siteseed, which covers most of the features included by Marcus Sckweiker. You can get documentation on those from http://www.siteseed.de. Marcus' features are regularly uploaded on the CVS at SourceForge as well.

    www.boarterslife.com picture
Get to know everything about boats in Boater's LIFE and enhance your boating experience in more ways than one. After all, life begins on the water. And, if you are not on it, you can at least read about it.

This is prime example of a great site produced with Siteseed.

Pureseed - VIA NET.WORKS Portugal`s new site is using Siteseed!

VIA NET.WORKS Portugal, once called Esoterica, is Portugal's oldest commercial Internet Service Provider, dating back to 1994 and bought by the US corporation VIA NET.WORKS in 1999. Their site has always been updated manually - until now! In another record-breaking installation, a Mr.Net team of Siteseed technicians were able to convert the 700+ pages to Siteseed in only 2 weeks + 1 week of testing and corrections!
    VIA NET.WORKS Portugal
VIA NET.WORKS is not a complete stranger to the Siteseed technology; Alejandro Flores, one of the mailing list users, while working for VIA NET.WORKS Mexico, implemented their intranet with Siteseed, at least for internal demonstration purposes. And in Portugal there is a partnership between Mr.Net and VIA NET.WORKS to do Siteseed hosting using their data center.

Rumors tell us the the Managing Director of VIA NET.WORKS Portugal is personally "playing around" with Siteseed to change the site himself :-) We cannot deny or confirm those rumors, just spread them around :)

Pureseed - The tourism site of the UEFA Euro 2004 done with Siteseed

Portugal will be hosting the UEFA Euro 2004 championship in 2004, and besides the official UEFA site which will show the games, there is a companion site with all touristic information on Portugal.
    Euro 2004 homapage
This is a site working with three different languages. While its structure is not much different than others, it has lots of interesting features, like a "Travel bag" where you can put your saved URLs and an integrated mailing list manager.

It's currently serving aroung 50.000 page hits/day (for about 2000 visits/day) and the site has just been put online!

You can visit it at http://euro2004.portugalinsite.pt

Pureseed - "www.startux.org" migrated to Siteseed!

Startux.orgStartux.org is a Portuguese site devoted to help Linux (and other unixes) users. It is a sort of living FAQ where newbies and experienced users can get together and help each other.

Owned by Mário Gamito the site used to run on PHP-NUKE. After a lot of headaches and pain Mário decided to look for better software to run it's website. Mr Net offered the license and provided the Siteseed version of Startux.org.

    Check it out on http://zealot.mrnet.pt/startux

Pureseed - "www.sic.pt" migrated to Siteseed!

This is a major Portuguese site. SIC is a TV station (nation wide broadcasts and several cable channels). The site used to be powered by Vignete and run under Windows 2000. We converted it to run Siteseed under FreeBSD.

The end result can be seen at www.sic.pt. It now runs faster, is more reliable, and the staff is having a ball with Siteseed technology. The conversion was handled by Mr Net staff (with direct envolvement of some Siteseed core team members).

Pureseed - "www.rtp.pt" site fully converted to Siteseed!

site made with Siteseed!RTP is a Portuguese state owned television station.

The site was made by their staff with phone support from Mr Net. It features competition calendar, results and news. Looks pretty nice so it gets the "pureseed" award.

The link to their website is www.rtp.pt.
